Forget Bruce Lee & Wong Fei Hung. It's Ip Man Now!

Watch this movie Ip Man recently at Kepong. I would raise both my legs to give for thumbs up to it. I watched Fong Sai Yuk and Wong Fei Hung in the 90s but that can't compare to this action-packed film which has no wire-hanging effect. It's all kick and punch. I will recommend you to watch not once but twice.

Fighting scene
Every fighting scene is nice to watch. The first two involving Ip Man and two challengers is funny yet exciting. I guess the scene everyone is expecting is the one where he land countless continuous jabs to his helpless Japanese opponent from vertical to horizontal landing. Not to forget the climax scene where he won his duel with the Japanese General but then being shot and fell from the platform is one of my favourite scene.

Japanese occupation
The middle part of the story revolves around him fighting the Japanese occupation. After watching this movie, one can understand why the Chinese still reluctant to forgive the Japanese until now. The Japanese soldiers were cruel. However, the Japanese General in this movie is a fair opponent. He respects the martial art law. How can I describe it? One must watch to understand what I meant.

Supporting cast
Let's no forget the supporting actor in this movie even though Ip Man is the one that is hogging the limelight. Particularly, I like the the captain-turn-interpreter acted by Lam Ka Tung. Portrayed as one of the defector in Chinese community, he has every reasons to side the Japanese. When one comes to supporting his family's rice bowl and protecting his life, he has to turn his back to the Chinese community yet still trying to protect them. Sort of unsung hero.

Ip Man Character
It is nice to know that is such a gentleman figure he portrayed in a mean world. Reluctant to accept disciple before the Japanese occupation but changed his mind in order to teach the people to protect themselves in an era where the strongest survived.

Just in case if you don't know, Ip Man is the master of the legendary Bruce Lee in his early days.
