8th Wonder Of The Universe

Yesterday, I and Han Ching went to One Utama to watch the much-talked about film, King Kong directed by multi-awards winner, Peter Jackson. At first we were trying our luck to buy our ticket on the spot since it has been fully booked via online. To our surprise, there were still tickets available when we reached the counter. Two tickets up! For your information, we got our ticket for a mere RM 7 per head due to early bird package (11am show). As the movie is 187 minutes or 3 hours long it worth every little penny spent. Back to the show, I backed the critic that labels this movie a combination of Jurassic Park ( I really agree with that), Jaws ( shocking scene), ET (weird creature & touching scene for the sunset and sunrise view), Raider Of the Lost Ark (adventurous jungle) all rolled into one mammoth roller coaster ride!

To be frank the movie do intend to go into illogical plot occasionally (how could you search someone inside the jungle so fast? And killed gigantic insectS and wormS with machine guns only). I certainly rate the visual effect the highest as King Kong really respond like an animal behavior. Bet they must have observed a lot of ape before they do this movie. As for the acting, Han Ching praises the actress Ann Darrow, portrayed by Naomi Watts for being a silent actress. Her eyes do the acting. Well, I agree with that. Besides, the hero Jack Driscoll (not the King Kong) played by Brody capture her attention too for being a loving hero. Me… I don’t know but to me I have a different hero in the movie which some of you might think weird. I admired the captain. Why? He was very responsible at first because he assigned his crews to save Ann Darrow in the jungle which he could have left her for the sake of the whole. But then his character drained off. Visual effect. Must give another mention in this movie.

Frankly speaking I like the scene where the duel between the T-Rex and King Kong the most. Talk about one on one fighting, but it comes out in a handicapped match. Three versus one where King Kong emerges as the last ape standing. I was expecting only one T-Rex from the preview but was surprise there were two and then all the sudden, another T-Rex came from behind. I hope all the kids won’t be confused by this movie. To all the boys and girls out there, THERE IS NO KING KONG IN THE JURASSIC ERA AND NOPE, KING KONG IS NOT THE FIERCEST DINASOUR AND THERE ARE ONLY SEVEN WONDERS IN THE WORLD (King Kong a no-no, ok?). I certainly felt this movie shouldn’t be rate as U because I find some of the scene unacceptable for children for example the humungous earth worms that suck the human head scene. To sum up this movie, a combination of adventure, touching, comedy, suspense, disgusting (creature, fantasy, wrestling :p and love. All crammed up into three hours. I salute that effort. I would recommend viewers to watch this movie in cinema especially IMAX because a gigantic creature supposed to be in large silver screen and not shrink into TV set size.
