This CNY celebration, my family and I and Han Ching went this Dong Zhen monastery at Banting on 31 January 2006. It was one hell of a ride. We started moving at 6.30PM but we reached there at 9.30PM. And it was all down to two stupid traffic lights with a distance of around 50 meters among them that went faulty. What make us angrier is that the traffic police arrive only when we reach the traffic light itself. There were a lot of people jam-packing the place to catch a glimpse of a temple covered with lots of bulbs. Ok… the might view was a sight to behold. But other than that, it just another ordinary ancient Chinese castle. One thing I like however was the place is FOC again!!
The hedges are trimmed to the shape of a Buddha face. They even had a round lifted monorail track with the Buddha statue circling around occasionally sprinkling water. We left the place at 10.30PM because they are starting to “shoo” (follow my university’s library style of switching off the lights) us away. At least we get to visit the place even though we suffered for 3 hours in the ride. So 3 hours go there and so it’s must be vice-versa right? And you are right. We stuck in traffic jam again because of the same traffic light again on our way back. This time the traffic police had left the scene some more. We finally reached home at 2.00PM. Conclusion:
1. Malaysia’s traffic light system is bad
2. Malaysia’s road design is worse
3. 3 hours traffic jam is worst (some more vice-versa)
