Theater of Dream

Theather of Dream. For every Manchester United fans, you won't be a claimed a Red Devils until you visited the homeground of the football club itself. Old Trafford. When Tham told us that we will going McArthur Glen (some shopping heaven at Cheshire Oak) , I know I'm within distance from my destiny. I was quite nervous when our GPS pointed us to a place with the same name as Old Trafford. But luckily, I got the exact address, Sir Matt Busby Way which eventually brought me in front of the stadium itself. Luck was on my side. There is no game that day and I can park within walking distance from the ground.

It was awesome feeling standing in front of the stadium which I used to watch thousand miles away at home during the live telecast. And now to immerse myself in the football maniac atmosphere, I feel I'm the happiest person in UK. Can you imagine I'm standing at a place where the likes of Ronaldo, Giggs, Cantona, Scholes, Beckham and Alex Ferguson coming in and out every week.

One thing I missed out however was the chance to enter the stadium. By the time I reached, it was nearly 6 o'clock and all the shops and tour has closed down. But with one seller began to pack his merchandise I managed to stop him for some paraphernalia. Well, I must admit. I was too overwhelmed by the fact that I'm in the place I only managed to dream when I was a teenager, I spent some money which I could buy more of equivalent gift in Malaysia. The seller first sentence to me was, "Malaysian?" I was shocked. Well, there are millions of supporter form all over the world and he manage to guess right on his first try. He can go buy lottery.

Is there a stamp on my forehead which show "Malaysia Mari Punya" ? Anyway, walking around the club, I saw the memorial for the Munich plane crash legends. Jeff was asking what's the clock stand for. It was the time frozen to commemorate the Munich plane crash incident. Nearly half the team died during that match.

One of them was Duncan Edwards. People mention that if he's still alive, he might be one of the legend in football. He was very young that time when he was one of the victim and didn't manage to show his skill to the world.

Tham was asking the statue in front the stadium. It doesn't look like Sir Alex Ferguson. Yup, it's not. It's Sir Matt Busby. The manager that bring them the first European Cup (or Champion's League).

And the team who died in the plane crash are sometimes referred as the Busby's Babes.

Frankly speaking, I think Sir Alex Ferguson should have statue in the stadium one day. Why? He brought more glory to the club and propel them to the world. I think Manchester United should thank me for coming to Old Trafford. Because I come to the ground, they won the English Premier League title on that week. What next? Champion's League title in Moscow.
