Loch Ness - MythBuster Special

Mention about Loch Ness. And the story about the long neck monster crops up in every Scottish folks. Is it a real story, myth or a fluke? Me and my team embarked in our Mystery Machine (Nissan Note) to Inverness to uncover the monster of Loch Ness. Loch Ness is actually a lake by nature. After all, I guess loch is lake in Scottish. In Scotland, there are hundreds of loch.

Some lochs are even bigger, longer, wider, or deeper than Loch Ness yet they are not famous; all because they don't have monsters. Simple as that. Nessie (the monster name) reminds me of the story in Doraemon series where Nobita actually encountered a dinosaur (long neck one of course) by wrapping a fossil egg with a cloth that can turn back time. The sightings of the monster claimed by the people here in Inverness certainly have brought a lot of curious and dumb tourists like me with false hope to meet the monster here.

A myth like this certainly make one place famous. I guess Malaysia followed this act. Not too long ago, they claimed the sighting of a Big Foot in Johor. It caused a media frenzy for quite a while. But eventually the hype petered out. We dropped by a museum along the lake. It's an exhibition center. There, you'll be able to read the story of 1000 sightings of the monster by the people who claimed to see it. But why they must mention 1000?? I told Vincent that there's a Chinese saying if a lie being told 1000 times, it will become true. So that's why it's a true story and everybody believes it. Because it's been told more than 1000 times! Simple as that.

Actually I do believe in Nessie. Well, it's definitely not monster but dinosaur instead. But of course it sure dead by now. That sighting might be the last one. Sighed. There's is a castle beside the lake which we didn't enter (please... there are so many castles in Scotland; I don't bother missing this one).

It's Urquhart Castle. There's a boat ride which cover the journey to Loch Ness and the castle but once again we are content by snapping some photos from far away. I used to remember when we were young, we were told not to pee into the sea because monster will pop out and bite our little birds away. The idea of peeing into the lake in order to make Nessie come out is a good idea indeed. Tham said he does not mind doing it in order to lure the monster up. I'm not sure whether he did the unscrupulous act but not long after that..... Our doubts were answered. 1000 become 1001 sightings. These the photos I managed to snap while hiding behind the trees.

The sight of Nessie sure send shiver down my spine as the my hand trembled trying to push the shutter. I can guarantee these photos are not being "photoshop"ed or altered. It's 100% genuine!!

Nessie myth. Busted!
