Bridging The Tsing Ma Bridge

Staying in Hong Kong is one hell of experience. Though they speak my mother tongue, I don't feel like home here at all. Lifestyle here is totally different from home. Whether it is working or daily lifestyle. Their work here is efficient yet.. their efficiency is not because they really put heart into doing it but more to being scared of doing wrong and get fired. You have to be extra hardworking here to get noticed. By doing that, you sacrifice your own time. That's for sure. To them, working is to earn money to eat good and buy branded stuff. Owning a house is out of question. Need not to say about car. We in Malaysia work to earn money to pay the housing and car loan. Job is so scarce nowadays that most of the jobs here are offered in contract basis. Once this job finished it's bye bye for you and another round of circling the newspaper. You do anything wrong, bye bye. You are fired!

In Malaysia, you can come in late or on time. Go back early or on time. No need to work under pressure. Coffee break. Cigarette break. Online break. Toilet break. Ok, I'm not denying anyone's right to pee, em em, quenching thirst, get a break or to be punctual. I'm just making comparison. Conclusion. If you are a hardworking type in Malaysia then sorry to say you are just an ordinary contract staff here hoping the project not to end so early and a very slim hope to be offered permanent job. For that, I LOVE YOU CARYN ! (my HR Manager)

People in Hong Kong is very healthy. Because SOME if them "practised" taichi very well everyday. Hong Kong is so packed and the people participate in 400m dash everyday. Some even go for marathon. They had to rely on MTR and public bus to get to their location. 1km walk from the destination to nearest MTR is consider short for them. Alas, some of us are so lazy back here that one parking lot away from the shop also we consider too far to walk.

Here, there's no such thing as man can do, woman cannot. Ok la, maybe certain things they can't. The women is brave enough to walk alone in the middle of the night. There's no Mat Rempit or rascals at night. Please don't mix "Young & Dangerous" movie into the lifestyle in Hong Kong. There are police officers everywhere. Talk about their police force, it is a respected profession here. Fear is one thing. Respect is another thing. We fear our police but we don't respect them. Like I say before, movie where Hong Kong police officer wearing green uniform is in movie only. They no longer wear green uniform in real life. Why? Maybe they thought green is not cool. They only wear two uniforms: black and blue. Why black? Why blue? Aha.. Black uniform if you noticed in movie is a bit thicker. It's for winter use. Need I say more on blue then?

My colleague told me, people who can speak English are well-respected here. Hmm. My advice, if you can't read Chinese characters like me and only can converse and look like banana (yellow outside white inside), you must speak English. Or else the restaurant staff might or will scold you thinking you are playing a fool with them when asking them what they have . They are assuming as though you enter McDonald and ask what McDonald sells?

The people here are new to Muslim culture. They often find it weird and puzzled of how a Muslim lives in Malaysia. All these while they thought Muslim can't eat pork. That's all. When I told them they can't eat meat that aren't slaughtered according to their religion. They look frowned. When they are trying hard to think of any vegetable cuisine to serve us, I told them better not. The utensil they use must be cleansed accordingly. They look even more frowned and ask me how are they going to eat then? I told them:

JUST GIVE HIM ONE PLAIN WHITE RICE IN PLASTIC WRAP.
